- Deck officers have experience on: tanker vessel,
container, RO RO, car carrier, bulk carrier, passenger, AHTS, PSV,
ROV, Reserch, crew boat, etc.
- Engine officers have experience on the engine types:
Wartsila/Sulzer, Man-B&W, Pielstick, Fiat, Mak, Storck, etc.
- Our electronic/electric officers are high qualified and have
experience with electronics, automatisation and pneumatic systems.
All fitters and mechanics are trained in Adriatic Shipyard Bijela and have
great experience with overhaul of the main engine, auxiliary engines, turbines, and
all other machinery in engine room. They can also rebuild ship’s structure / deck
plates, bulkhead, frame and different types of piping system/. We also have flying
repair/maintenance teams for all types of vessels/engines.
In last 40 years, we had 3 successful shipping companies in this area, employing
mostly Montenegro officers; Jugooceanija – Kotor, Prekookeanska Plovidba – Bar and
Beoplov – Beograd. Besides these companies, our seamen were also employed by some
companies from Croatia and Slovenia like: Jugolinija – Rijeka, Tankerska Plovidba –
Zadar, Splosna Plovidba – Kopar and Atlanska Plovidba-Dubrovnik. Since 1970 our
seamen have also been employed on foreign flag vessels. They have begun to employ by
great number of foreign flag Companies during ex Yugoslavian crisis in 1992.
Currently our officers are employed by: Zodiac Maritime – London, MSC –
Geneva, Hansa Shipmngt – Hamburg, Bogazzi Nav. – Marina di Carrara, Eastern
Mediterranean – Athens, ZIM – Haifa, World Tankers Management – Singapore, PIL –
Singapore, Pankar – Athens, Mitsui (Azalea) – Japan, Tidewater – Singapore, etc.
EDUCATION
Maritime College in Kotor was founded in 1959. Today in Kotor there are
Maritime High School, Maritime College and Academy. Each year the Academy educates
60 deck cadets and 60 engine cadets through the 4 year studies program. Maritime
High School offers 4 year study, after which deck officers can have the highest rank
of Chief Officer and engine room officers rank of 2nd Engineer. In order to obtain
Master Mariner or Chief Engineer License, officers have to finish the 2 year study
on Maritime College.
Current organization of studies at the Faculty of Maritime Studies in Kotor is as
follows:
- Management Dept. – 4 year studies
- Marine Nautical Dept. – 2 year studies
- Marine Engineering Dept. – 2 year studies
Including also: Cathedra for Main and Auxiliary Shipboard Plants, Technical and
Technological Cathedra, Cathedra for Ship Electrical Engineering, Electronics,
Communications, Automation and Computers, Cathedra for Economics and Marine
Transport Organisation, Maritime Law Cathedra, Foreign Languages Cathedra, Cathedra
for Cybernetics, Cathedra for Mathematics.
HARBOUR AUTHORITIES
Harbour Offices in Bar and Kotor are in charge of all courses and examinations
regarding issuance of all kinds of certificates (certificate of competency and all
other necessary cert.) and Seaman’s Books. All certificates issued are licensed by
the STCW 95 convention, and allow officers to work on all types of vessel, such as
container, car carrier, passenger, tanker, chemical tanker, LPG, LNG and AHTS.
MARITIME TRAINING CENTRES
Faculty of Maritime studies in Kotor with long tradition, Maritime Training Centre in
Bar supported by Prekookeanska plovidba Bar and Azalea Maritime Training Centre in
Bijela which is authorized for trainings in 2002, are in possession of (the) most
up-to-date equipment according IMO requirements and standards.
